April in the mountains: beautiful and challenging landscapes
April is a special month for lovers of hiking and mountain sports. The peaks are dressed in green, spring bursts into full bloom and brings with it challenges: unexpected rainfall, slippery paths and an increase of pollens in the air.
So here are some useful tips and information for your next getaway, see you in the mountains!
COLOURED STRIPES ON THE MOUNTAIN, WHAT DO THEY MEAN?

It is a classic on hiking trails. However, not many people know the meaning of each colour, and this can be very important:
- White and green: Local Trails. These are the shortest routes, less than 10 kilometres long.
- White and yellow: Small Trails. The distance increases and these are trails of between 10 and 50 kilometres.
- White and red: Great Distance. These are the longest, with a length of more than 50 kilometres.
Remember that these signs are placed in strategic places for their visibility, so you should have no trouble finding them. You will also have to look out for the cross, which indicates that this is not the right direction, as well as the one with an angular deviation to the left or right to indicate a deviation from the route.
DON'T LET ALLERGIES LIMIT YOU

Spring brings life to nature, but also an increase in pollen levels. If you are allergic, follow these tips to enjoy the outdoors without any problems:
- Stay hydrated: a thermos bottle will help you keep your water cool at all times.
- Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from pollen.
- Avoid early morning and late afternoon, when the concentration of pollen is highest.
MOUNTAIN SAFETY: WHEN CAUTION IS EVERYTHING

April can surprise you with sudden showers, making the ground unstable and slippery. To stay safe:
- Wear footwear with good traction and water resistance.
- Plan routes with escape routes in case of bad weather.
- Carry light waterproof clothing and a backpack with the essentials: water, food, torch and a basic first aid kit.
This spring, enjoy the mountains responsibly. Stay hydrated with your LAKEN bottle and be prepared to adventure safely.
